The MODA sensor module is a non-invasive exterior tank level sensor. This sensor is attached to the outside of a plastic or fiberglass tank eliminating the possibility of sensor malfunction due to fouling by tank contents. (This will not work on a metalic tank. If you have a metalic tank, please order a custom built rod for the interior of your tank listed below.)

Due to its non-invasive nature, the MODA sensor module is simple to install. It is installed by applying 2 vertical strips of aluminum tape to the side of the tank, then sticking the MODA copper patches over them. Installation is completed by sticking the module itself to the tank then extending its wires to the display. The Kit comes with 4.5 feet of Aluminum tape per sensor/tank. If you need additional tape, please make a comment in the box of how much and we will accommodate you.

In cases where there is no access to the sides of a plastic water or waste tank to apply the aluminum tape required by the MODA sensor modules, or in the event that the tank to be monitored is constructed of metal, a PVC rod-style sensor can be used.

These sensors install into a 1 inch (NPT) threaded hole in the top of the tank. At least a ½" of clearance is needed above the tanks to install this sensor. The length of these sensors are specified at time of order and are custom built. Please allow a week for building time prior to shipping. They are wired the same as the moda sensor with 2 wires running back to the panel and 1 wire to be grounded. These PVC Rod Sensors work with any of our current monitoring panels.

To measure your tank for the length of the rod needed, you will need to measure from the top of the outside of the tank to the bottom of the inside minus about ½" as you do not want the rod touching the bottom of the tank. Rod Lengths have a tolerance of +/- ¼".

If you have a waste or water tank that already has the 5 Star Hole pattern in the top and would like to use the same hole for your PVC rod sensor, then we have adapters to accommodate that hole. You will need to add 1¼" to the height of your rod when ordering this adapter. The part number is PVC1-5HOLE and is $35. See Below pictures. If you don’t have any hole and just want to drill one, we have a galvanized adapter that uses silicone and screws over a straight hole to create the 1” pipe thread you will need. It is the 511-605HC adapter for $12. If you are using this adapter, you will need to add an additional 1” to the length of your sensor.

This sensor was developed to incorporate Diesel Tank monitoring with any of our existing tank monitoring systems.

This unit installs into a SAE standard 5 hole fuel sender opening in the fuel tank. A BUNA-N gasket and 5 stainless steel screws are included with the sensor. These sensors are custom made to the length specified by the customer at time of order (from 6" to 70"), and the unit is factory calibrated. The sensor head is 2.75" by 0.75" in size and requires about an inch of clearance (measured from the top of the tank) to install.
